Privacy policy

This page explains what FyahFinds (Trinidad and Tobago) knows about you, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: privacy@fyahfinds.com.

What we collect

To make an account we need your email, a display name, your date of birth and your home country. That is all that is required. You may also add a profile photo, a phone or WhatsApp number and an Instagram handle. We show a seller’s WhatsApp and Instagram only to people who are logged in, and only if the seller switched them on.

We also keep what you do on the site: your listings and photos, saves, follows, saved searches, messages and reports you send.

We use your date of birth only to check age limits (13 to have an account, 16 to chat, 18 to sell). We never show it to other people.

Cookies and ads

We use a login cookie so you stay signed in, and small cookies to remember your country, your theme and your ad choice. Ads are shown only after you choose, and they are always non-personalised: they are not based on your browsing. You can change your choice any time on your privacy page.

We measure visits with Umami, which does not use cookies and does not follow you across sites.

Who sees your data

• Other people see your display name, your listings and, for sellers, a store page.
• Our staff can see reports and, only when a chat has been reported, that chat. Every staff read is logged.
• Service providers process data for us: hosting, email delivery, and file storage.
• Google AdSense receives a request to show an ad, after you choose to allow ads.

How long we keep it

• Your account data: while your account exists. If you delete your account, listings and your store are removed at once, and personal details are erased within 30 days.
• Chat messages: 12 months. After you delete your account your messages show “Deleted user”.
• Removed or deleted listings and their photos: 90 days. Photos of expired or sold listings: erased 12 months after they stop being public.
• Reports and moderation records: 2 years. Staff action log: 2 years (it holds user numbers, not names).
• Notifications: 90 days. Server logs: 14 days. Backups: 14 days.

Your rights

You can download your data and delete your account from your privacy page. To correct your date of birth, email privacy@fyahfinds.com. To ask anything else about your data, write to privacy@fyahfinds.com.

We handle personal data in line with the Data Protection Act of Trinidad and Tobago. Rules for Jamaica and Barbados will be added before FyahFinds opens there.

Children

You must be 13 to have an account. People under 13 can browse without one. Selling needs you to be 18.

If we change this page in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or on the site.
